Halfway Through Our 10th Anniversary Year: celebrating the journey so far

We can hardly believe it – we’re already halfway through our 10th anniversary year!

Back in December, we kicked off this milestone year with excitement, reflection and big plans to celebrate a decade of community ownership. Fast-forward six months and what a journey it’s been! From bustling community events to quiet moments of reflection on how far we’ve come, 2025 has already gifted us a beautiful blend of past and present.

A look back at the first six months

Our anniversary year began in December 2024 with a real sense of togetherness, with volunteers and supporters attending our Volunteers Party to mark ten years since the Trust took on the stewardship of this special garden suburb. Then since the start of 2025, we’ve had everything from heritage talks and plant sales, to family-friendly activities that have brought old and new residents together.

Some highlights so far:

  • Fish & Chip Quiz Suppers in February and April were both roaring successes, bringing light and laughter to the darker months.

  • Our 2025 series of Heritage Talks kicked off with two engaging and well-supported talks: ‘An armchair guide to the Battlefields of WW1’ with Paul Jaques and Dave Vaux from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in April, followed by ‘Bertha Bracey: Holocaust Hero’ with Dr Sian Roberts in May.

  • School holiday activities, including Let’s Do Lego and craft sessions, have been really busy and we have loved seeing families play and create together.
  • We launched Warm Welcome Wednesdays in April, inviting everyone to the Carless Eco Centre for a cuppa and a friendly chat every Wednesday morning. These informal sessions have already sparked conversation and friendship among our community.
  • Our annual plant sale at the Carless Eco Centre raised a fantastic £907, with all profits going back into the Trust’s work to conserve Moor Pool’s heritage and community spaces for future generations.
  • Our volunteers have continued to amaze us – whether by serving refreshments at our events, potting up plants, engaging with children on school visits, or just showing up with a smile and a can-do spirit.

What makes Moor Pool special?

This anniversary has reminded us why Moor Pool is more than just a neighbourhood: it’s a living, breathing piece of social history. As one of the last remaining garden suburbs of its kind, Moor Pool’s charm lies not just in its architecture or green spaces, but in the people who call it home and the shared sense of pride we all feel.

What's next?

Don’t put the bunting away just yet! The second half of our anniversary year is packed with even more exciting events, including:

  • Moor Pool 5k Summer Challenge, 19th July to 31st August. Help us raise £5,000 by completing a 5k anywhere around Moor Pool.

  • Moor Pool Heritage Festival, Sunday 14th September. Come and experience the wonderful community spirit and Arts and Crafts splendour of Moor Pool Estate and discover more about Moor Pool’s history and activities.

  • More family-friendly activities, including school holiday events, a special family film afternoon in October and our legendary Santa’s sleigh and grotto in December.

As we look ahead, we’re also planting seeds for the next ten years – from conservation and refurbishment projects to more opportunities for local involvement, Moor Pool’s future is just as exciting as its past.

Thank you!

We wouldn’t be here without you – our supporters, neighbours, volunteers and friends. Whether you’ve lived in Moor Pool your whole life or just discovered us this year, thank you for being part of our story.

Let’s keep the celebration going and make the rest of 2025 unforgettable!
