Birmingham-based photographic artist Matthew Murray will be discussing his photography which began aged 13, after winning a national competition to fly to New York on Concorde, play football with Pele, a trip to the White House and randomly the film location for “The Exorcist.”
Matthew has since worked on high-end advertising campaigns across the UK, Europe, and Australia. His notable projects include the Labour Party election campaign with Creative Director Trevor Beattie, Sony PlayStation, the FA Cup, and work for Saatchi & Saatchi, among others.
His work is part of the permanent collections at prestigious institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, The Martin Parr Foundation in Bristol, The Royal Library of the Netherlands in The Hague, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as various private collections.
Matthew’s personal work is represented by Elliott Gallery in Amsterdam, one of Europe’s leading exponents of contemporary art photography.
During his talk, he will present a selection of projects and advertising campaigns photographed in and around Birmingham.
